I have decided to approach the Minor Prophets with a specific goal in mind: I am seeking to provide a historical context for the books. Therefore, we are looking at the books in chronological order. Also, as we go through each book, I try to bring out as much of the historical background as possible. By establishing a narrative context, the propositions and sometimes seemingly obscure passages come to life and the likelihood of application in the life of the hearer increases exponentially. For example, if I simply explain the passage and try to apply it without understanding Hosea's reference to Gibeah in 9:9, the point of the verse is lost and is usually misapplied or, at best, under applied.

I know there is dispute over when some of the books are written (listen to the Introduction Sermons for the Minor Prophets and for each book for details and argumentation), but I have approached them in this order: Obadiah, Joel, Jonah, Amos, Hosea, Micah, Zephaniah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi.
